At Integrity College of Health, our Veterinary Assistant training program is designed to prepare students for careers in the veterinary field. Veterinary assistants are specially trained to provide critical assistance and support to scientists, veterinarians, and veterinary technologists and technicians with their daily tasks. As a veterinary assistant you can play an important role, assisting veterinarians and providing critical and compassionate care to many kinds of animals.

Through a combination of quality curriculum delivered by experienced faculty, and hands-on practical experience in on-campus labs and through an externship, Integrity College of Health’s Veterinary Assistant program gives students the experience working with animals they need to be prepared for careers as veterinary assistants. ICH students learn the comprehensive skills and knowledge needed to work alongside veterinarians and veterinary technicians in a variety of animal care settings.

Students in the Veterinary Assistant program learn to:

      • Prepare veterinary exam rooms

      • Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments

      • Intake animals for exams

      • Feed animals

      • Bathe animals

      • Exerce animals

      • Restrain animals during procedures

      • Care for and monitor animals after surgery or treatment

      • Give medications

      • Administer immunizations

Instruction in Integrity College of Health’s Veterinary Assistant program goes beyond the classroom by including an externship. The externship component of the program is comprised of 200 clinical hours working in an off-site veterinary facility. Through the externship, CCC students gain practice in real life situations, rather than learning just from textbooks.

The Veterinary Assistant program can be completed in as few as 35 weeks, and graduates receive a Certificate of Completion, Veterinary Assistant diploma, and are prepared to immediately enter into entry-level positions in the field. ICH graduates are supported as they make the transition from school to the job market, thanks to the Career Services department. ICH’s Career Services department provides every student with a wide range of career support services, including resume writing assistance, job searching and networking, interviewing skills, and comprehensive job placement assistance. While the school cannot guarantee employment upon graduation, ICH instructors and Career Services staff consistently seek to assist students with employment opportunities prior to and after graduation.

If veterinary assisting sounds like an interesting career to you, then Integrity College of Health has the training program for you! At ICH, in Pasadena, California, professional instruction, on-campus labs, and an externship provide the critical knowledge and hands-on skills you need to enter the job market with confidence.
