Sara Valashinas, Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program

Sara Valashinas is a student in ICH’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program. Sara chose the DMS program because she was looking for a challenge, but she also wanted to help others. “I chose to be a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer,” Sara says, “because I wanted to have a career where I can challenge myself, constantly learn, help others, and make a difference in people’s lives.” ICH’s program worked for her because ICH offers flexible schedules, including evening classes. According to Sara, “Integrity College of Health has a great program and the hours fit into my busy schedule. Working multiple jobs and going to night school would be impossible without them.”

Sara’s Instructor Jose Barros chose her for the featured student spotlight for her dedication to her training, and to her peers. He says, “It is my absolute pleasure to choose Sara Valashinas for the student spotlight at Integrity College of Health. I had the pleasure of getting to know Sara over the course of the program, and observed her interactions with peers and faculty, both in and out of the classroom. Sara has demonstrated to be a self-disciplined, diligent, punctual, courteous, team player, and responsible student. In addition, Sara is a student who works multiple jobs and comes to class with a smile on her face every day. She comes early into class and stays late to help other students who are struggling.”

At ICH, students in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound Technician) program learn the theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on skills to understand medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and physics and work with specialized equipment.
