The field of nursing offers excellent job opportunities. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics (https://www.bls.gov/ooh/healthcare/registered-nurses.htm), the nursing field is growing steadily nationwide, with a job growth rate of 9% projected through 2030. In 2020, the median pay for Nurses nationwide was $75,330 annually (BLS). This higher-than-average job growth and competitive rate of pay reflects the need for more skilled and trained nurses across the country.

At ICH, we offer training programs for healthcare careers that are in high demand in your community. Integrity College of Health’s Vocational Nursing diploma program is a 56-week program designed to prepare students with important nursing skills for direct patient care. Vocational Nurses are entry-level nurses who care for sick, injured, or convalescing patients, under the direction of physicians and registered nurses. ICH’s VN program provides hands-on training so that students gain practice in real life situations, rather than learning just from textbooks.

In ICH’s VN program, students learn to work as a part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team in selected healthcare settings with individuals, families and communities across the life span. Students learn how to promote wellness, provide safe, empathetic care, and provide care in a culturally sensitive manner. Students at ICH learn how to perform critical duties, including how to:

  • Monitor patients’ health
  • Administer basic patient care
  • Provide for the basic comfort of patients
  • Discuss the care they are providing with patients and listen to their concerns
  • Report patients’ status and concerns to registered nurses and doctors
  • Keep records on patients’ health

Graduates of ICH’s VN program will receive their Vocational Nursing Diploma, and are prepared to take the NCLEX-PN exam for Registered Nurses.

ICH was founded on the sense of community, and our goal is to positively impact our community by developing nursing professionals from within the community. Founded in 2007, ICH offers a beacon of hope to all searching for a pathway to improve their lives as well as the lives of others. Alice Sorrell-Thompson, VN Program Director at ICH, says “For many of our graduates the dream of being a nurse was out of reach due to location, finance, and other external factors. Some did not have the confidence or support to engage with the necessary training. ICH continues to be the gateway that opens access to the support and skills necessary to build a pathway that leads to the achievement of that dream of being a nurse.”

Students come to ICH because ICH makes reaching your career goals possible. At ICH, you will find a community of support that will allow you to gain the confidence you need to pursue training for the career you desire.
