If you are looking for a career that is personally fulfilling, can provide steady income, and offers a path for advancement, a career in healthcare could be the right choice for you! A career in the healthcare field can be rewarding personally as well as professionally, and with a healthcare career there is often the potential for advancement. Healthcare workers such as nurses, medical assistants, medical insurance billing and coding specialists, and ultrasound technicians are integral to the American healthcare system. These healthcare workers are essential to our medical system, and because they are essential, these workers remain employed even through times of economic instability such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
Healthcare professionals such as nurses, medical assistants, medical insurance billing and coding specialists, and ultrasound technicians work directly with other medical professionals to deliver patients with the highest level of care. At ICH, we train students for these important healthcare careers. ICH’s career training programs are designed to be comprehensive, focused, and achievable in a relatively short amount of time. All programs are offered in a flexible hybrid/online format, and this flexibility makes ICH’s programs as achievable as possible. ICH’s healthcare programs include:
Medical Assisting (27 weeks) – Medical assistants work in doctor’s offices, hospitals, medical clinics, nursing homes, and other healthcare settings, directly with both patients and other healthcare workers. At ICH, students learn the essential skills needed for entry-level positions as medical assistants, including measuring patients’ vital signs, administering medications and injections, preparing patients for procedures, and using the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system. Graduates receive a Certificate of Completion, Medical Assisting diploma, and are prepared to test for the nationally-recognized MA certification.
Medical Billing and Coding (35 weeks) – A heightened focus on health data and the increasing digitization of medical records has created a growing demand for Medical Records and Health Information Specialists, including medical billing and coding specialists. At ICH, students learn comprehensive medical billing and coding procedures, medical terminology, and medical billing software. Graduates receive a Certificate of Completion, Medical Billing and Coding diploma, as well as CPR and First Aid Certification from the American Red Cross.
Ultrasound Technician (101 weeks) – Diagnostic medical sonography, also known as ultrasound technology, is used in healthcare to produce images of internal organs, soft tissue, and blood vessels, as well as to observe developing fetuses in the womb. At ICH, students learn theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on skills to understand medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and physics and work with specialized equipment. Graduates receive a Certificate of Completion, Ultrasound Technology diploma.
Vocational Nursing (56 weeks) – Nurses are critically important to the American healthcare system, and are in high demand across the country. At ICH, students learn the skills to provide basic nursing care, administer medications, document a patient’s signs and symptoms, and perform therapeutic and rehabilitative measures. Graduates receive a Certificate of Completion, Vocational Nursing diploma, and are prepared to sit for the NCLEX-PN exam and/or pursue additional opportunities such as becoming a Registered Nurse.
RN-to-BSN program (46 weeks) – For students who have already begun a career in nursing, and hold a Registered Nurse (RN) license and an Associate Degree, ICH offers an RN-to-BSN program. The RN-to-BSN program is designed for working nurses and is offered in two flexible formats: blended, or distance-online. In the RN-to-BSN program, students learn to practice professional nursing competently and safely, integrate research findings and nursing theory in decision making, and apply concepts of leadership and management to the practice of professional nursing.
