Veterinary assistants are specially trained to provide critical assistance and support to veterinarians, veterinary technicians and scientists, as a vital part of the veterinary team. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics veterinary assistants are ranked among the fastest growing occupations by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. According to the BLS,  employment for veterinary assistants is projected to grow 19% over the 2021-2031 decade – adding as many as 20,000 new jobs to the economy (BLS 2022). As of 2022, veterinary assistants held about 103,500 jobs in the U.S. economy, with employment in veterinary offices, veterinary hospitals, research facilities, animal shelters, wildlife refuges, and zoos.

At Integrity College of Health, our Veterinary Assistant program is a 35-week program designed to teach students the theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on skills to potentially enter this rewarding field. ICH’s VA program provides hands-on training so that students gain practice in real life situations, rather than learning just from textbooks. Through a combination of quality curriculum delivered by experienced faculty, and hands-on practical experience in on-campus labs and through an externship, ICH students learn:

      • Exam room preparation
      • Maintaining and sterilizing surgical instruments
      • Intaking animals for exams
      • Feeding, bathing, and exercising animals
      • Restraining animals during procedures
      • Caring for and monitoring animals after surgery or treatment
      • Giving medications
      • Administering immunizations

Graduates of ICH’s VA program will receive their Certificate of Completion, Veterinary Assistant Diploma.

After completing their program, ICH graduates can make the transition from school to the job market with confidence, thanks to the support of ICH’s Career Services department. Integrity College of Health is committed to assisting our program graduates in the pursuit of stable, rewarding employment, and the Career Services department provides every student with a wide range of career support services, including resume writing assistance, job searching and networking, interviewing skills, and comprehensive job placement assistance. While the school cannot guarantee employment upon graduation, ICH instructors and Career Services staff consistently seek to assist students with employment opportunities prior to and after graduation.
