Taking care of your mental and emotional well-being is just as important as your academic success. Whether you’re feeling stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, or simply need someone to talk to, help is available.
The following organizations offer free or low-cost support, including confidential chat lines, counseling referrals, crisis intervention, and peer-led programs. No matter what you’re facing, you are never alone. These trusted resources are here to listen, guide, and support you every step of the way.

BuddyHelp
BuddyHelp is a free, volunteer-led emotional support platform where you can chat confidentially with a trained listener. Whether you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or just need someone to talk to, BuddyHelp offers a safe, judgment-free space to be heard.
Crisis Text Line
If you ever feel you’re in crisis or need immediate emotional support, the Crisis Text Line is available 24/7. Just text a keyword (such as “HOME”) to connect with a trained crisis counselor who listens and provides support and resources.
OpenCounseling
OpenCounseling is an online directory that helps you find affordable (and sometimes free) therapists and counselors in your area. It’s a useful tool for students seeking professional support without overspending.
Suicide & Crisis Hotline – 988
Dialing 988 (or texting 988 in many areas) connects you to the National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. It’s a free, confidential service available 24/7 for anyone experiencing suicidal thoughts, emotional distress, or just needing someone to talk to.
NAMI (San Gabriel Valley / National Alliance on Mental Illness)
NAMI San Gabriel Valley offers free peer support groups, educational classes, advocacy, and referrals to help people living with mental illness and their loved ones. Their help line (626-365-0365) provides listening, resources, and guidance. At the national level, NAMI also operates a helpline and provides mental health education, support, and resources for communities across the U.S.
