ICH Veterinary Assistant Student Wins CAPPS Scholarship Award!

Congratulations Perla Celis, for winning a CAPPS scholarship! Perla, a Veterinary Assistant student at ICH, has been selected as a 2024 recipient of California Association of Private Postsecondary Schools (CAPPS) scholarship. The California Association of Private Postsecondary Schools (CAPPS) Memorial Scholarship program provides scholarship awards to students attending private post-secondary Institutions in California to support them on their higher education journey. Since the mid-2000’s, the California Foundation for Private & Postsecondary Schools has given scholarships established in the name of individuals that played a significant role in California’s private post-secondary educational sector. Scholarships are intended to support students as they work to achieve their dreams.

As the recipient of a CAPPS Scholarship, a celebratory ceremony was given in Perla’s honor. At the ceremony, Perla received a HUGE oversized check in the scholarship amount of $5,000. The scholarship money will support Perla on her path towards becoming a Veterinary Assistant.

Perla is a Veterinary Assistant student at ICH in Pasadena, California. The Veterinary Assistant program at Integrity College of Health is a 35-week program designed to teach students the theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on skills to potentially enter this growing field. ICH’s hybrid learning model includes a combination of hands-on instruction and online theory coursework. The hybrid-online format is perfect for working, busy students, empowering students to attend school to pursue their career goals, without quitting their current job or sacrificing in their care duties.

Learning from dedicated, experienced instructors, students in the Veterinary Assistant program learn:

  • Exam room preparation
  • Maintaining and sterilizing surgical instruments
  • Intaking animals for exams
  • Feeding, bathing, and exercising animals
  • Restraining animals during procedures
  • Caring for and monitoring animals after surgery or treatment
  • Giving medications
  • Administering immunizations

ICH’s VA program provides hands-on training so that students gain practice in real life situations, rather than learning just from textbooks. Through a combination of quality curriculum delivered by experienced faculty, and hands-on practical experience, students gain the critical skills needed for their future positions. Hands-on learning takes place in on-campus labs, and every VA student also completes an externship with an off-campus community partner.

Graduates of ICH’s Veterinary Assistant program receive a Certificate of Completion, Veterinary Assistant diploma, and are prepared for entry-level positions as Veterinary Assistants.
