Is Reliable Transportation an Issue?

When you’re focused on building your future here at ICH, transportation shouldn’t be an obstacle. Yet for many students, getting to class or an externship can be a daily challenge. The good news? There are transportation resources available to support students like you, to help you stay on track, on time, and on the move toward your career goals.

If you need extra guidance or personalized support, our Student Services team is here to help.

For any additional questions, reach out to Alek Oei at aoei@ich.edu or stop by the Student Services office.

Life Program

The LIFE (Low-Income Fare Is Easy) program by LA Metro offers a transit subsidy for students and residents with limited income. Once approved, participants receive a free 90-day, unlimited pass to use on any one of Metro’s internal or partnership services. After that period, the program continues by providing 20 free regional rides each month on Metro and participating local transit agencies.

To qualify, you must meet certain income criteria or currently receive public benefits (for example, Medi-Cal, EBT, etc.). Applicants need a valid ID and can choose to self-certify or provide documentation of income.

By reducing or eliminating transit costs, the LIFE program can help make commuting to campus, work, or essential appointments more affordable for students in need.

EZ Transit Pass

The EZ Transit Pass is a monthly, calendar-based transit pass loaded onto a TAP card that allows unlimited travel on local routes across 24–25 participating transit agencies in the Greater Los Angeles area.

For students who travel across city or county lines the EZ Pass can simplify commuting and reduce transit costs. Depending on which routes you ride, you may only need the base (Zone 0) pass; for some longer routes across zones, you may need a Zone 1 or higher pass. Loaded on a TAP card, the EZ transit pass makes it easy to move seamlessly between different transit systems without needing to buy individual tickets for each leg of your journey.

EZ passes are available at  Metro Customer Centers or at over 500+ vendor locations near you.

If you’re commuting across multiple transit agencies, the EZ Transit Pass is a smart option to help you stay mobile and save money.
